Cave arrow pendant

One of the things that I made is this cave arrow pendant.
The cave diving arrow is used by cave divers, for orientation in underwater caves. The shorter end of the arrow is always pointing toward exit. If you align it properly it will show you the right direction. So, let’s say: this is direction of life. If you get lost in an underwater cave, just search the arrow on guide line, and everything will end up ok.

First, I made template.
I used picture of an arrow that I found on the web as a template to get the best curves

Then I carefully cut out the template,

I glued the template on an aluminum flat bar, to ensure it will stay put throughout the cutting process.

The jig is a must, really I have used lots of tools for this project, but luckily, aluminum is soft and quite easy to work with it.

The final step is lacquering. You can paint it as you wish, but as I find soft sanding makes pretty nice finish, I used just a bit of lacquer for a better shine, that is it.
I wear this pendant every day for a better part of two years, and It is much more special to me than if I was to purchase it from some web store for 14$ and 45$ shipping
