If you play in a band, constantly moving from stage to stage your instrument suffers a lot of wear and tear damage. If you are a guitarist, constant playing for hours on end, carrying your instrument around and bumpy rides are all the things that will render your guitar useless at one point. Screws will pop out, springs from pickups will fly away, and the sound will eventually turn in to a steaming pile of shit.
Your guitar needs a bit of pampering from time to time. To properly refresh your beloved instrument, give it a new setup and a fresh set of strings.
I will give you an example: This was the state of my friend’s guitar when it came to me.

the guitar when it came.

I installed a new, working spring in pickup, so the sound can be leveled and set just right.

With pickup finished, everything was ready for new strings and setup.

Finished!
Guitar also got some polish and a new shine, little bit of guitar oil, just too feed lacquer and wood.
I have made my friend happy, it will be a long time till his guitar needs its next refreshment.
Keep it Rock n' Roll'n!
